Hey,

I'm thinkinga bout buying these rims on ebay. Anyone have any idea how hard it would be to keep these decently clean?

i can tell you man
i bought a set for my 95 z when i still had it. plain and simple they are a ****ing nightmare. They would get dirty, and start to rust if you let them go too long because they are not clear coated. I could wash and wax the car, and have more time in getting the wheels clean, and polishing them
do yourself a favor, seriously, get the chrome ones they shine 10 times better, dirt wipes right off, and they dont rust (or corrode). if not, get the painted ones, but the polished are a real hassle to keep care of. Hope this helps.

I have a set of the AFS "polished" ZR1 replicas, and they are clear coated. Absolutely no problems at all. A good coat of Zaino, just like any other clearcoat finish.

Polished ZR1's

I also have polished Weld Pro-Stars, without a clearcoat, and they take periodic polishing. I find the Mothers Billet (not "Aluminum") Polish has them looking like chrome. Of course the Pro-Stars never see any bad weather.

Thanks fred,

Where the AFS clear coated from the factory? If so i would imagine they would be as easy to care for as a painted wheel

Sorry for all the questions, i'm trying to buy wheels i'll be happy with for years to come.

I bought my AFS wheels from someone who bought them, then decided he didn't want to put them on his car. There were still in the original AFS boxes with the original wrappings, so as far as I know, that is the way they came from AFS.

Side View (Yes, I know the gap over the tires is too big, but the back is set up for 28" slicks, and the Eibach Drag Launch springs raise it up about 1/2" over stock.)
