Pointless to get a bottom end rebuild without ported heads?

I am thinking of getting a rebuild done down the road, but im not sure if i should get my heads done before or after the rebuild. It will not be stroked and it will just be a 355 bottom end.Can anyone shed some light on this situation for me. Thanks.

Also I know Lloyd Elliott does some great headwrok but can someone let me know on some prices compared to other companies like C Motorsports?

It certainly would not be a bad idea to have heads done as well. However it depends on what your goals with the car are. Are you planning on running a large cam? You could run stock heads and a large shot of nitrous over a nicely built 355 and stock heads too!

Until you get into exotic stuff, power is in the topend. If your shortblock is still running alright & in good condition, I'd run it til it dies. I've seen well over 400rw SAE from many 100k mile stockers. No sense in spending $ if you dont have to IMO

Hmmm very intersting point! I think a good port job and a cam and maybe a ?ported Intake? would hold me over until i rebuild the bottom end. I think i may want Lloyd Elliott from here do my porting. I have heard all good things formt his man doing porting. Does anyone have some prices though?
