Does anybody have a Magnaflow catback on their car right now? Has anyone heard or seen this exhaust system. Can you use headers with the Magnaflow?

Do some research my son...you'll see that Magnaflow is a great stainless steel 3" cat-back for a great price...and yes itll work with any headers...

i dont have the catback but i do have the muffler. i love the way it sounds, kind of quiet at idle but really likes to make noise past 3k

btw my setup is as follows: cat replaced with more piping, stock exhaust piping into a large magnaflow muffler to the single 3.5" tip

I've always wondered...is there some sort of advantage to have a cat-back that ran a single pipe out the left?

a friend of mine has a magnaflow catback on his ls1, and it sounds pretty good for that tame engine.

I run the Magnaflow cat-back system on my Formula...

I have stock everything except for what's noted in my sig.

Here's the deal on the clips... Play the stock one first to get the volume set. It's hard to hear the first one because the stock system was so quiet. The 2nd clip is the magnaflow system.

I recorded BOTH clips from the same distance behind the car, used the same thing to record them (my laptop), and in both cases the laptop was centered from left to right between the tips.

I did it this way so as to get the best direct comparison possible. I have been told that my clip is the most realistic clip of the Magnaflow that people have heard... I guess I just got lucky..,,

Anyway, on to the clips:

Stock Exhaust

Magnaflow

Remember, the only thing to change was the exhaust from the cat-back on the car.

I have had the magnaflow cat back for almost 2000 miles. I love it to death b/c it has a nice idle (not too loud), but about 2600rpm, it really opens up. This weekend, im gonna be doing Jet-Hot LT's and !cats. I hope it turns out, and i will post again once its done.

Yes, let us know how it goes after the LT's are on. I plan to do the full exhaust also, but am worried about the car getting too loud and raspy. I want to look for a exhaust setup that makes the car sound clean, not raspy or hollow, and not too loud, but I want LT's. I don't know if that's possible or not, to have LT's and still have a nice sounding exhaust.

I just put my magnaflow on...I haven't heard it yet, but from who has my car, he said it sounds awesome. The set up is on ported heads, cam, and hooker LT's with the hooker Y pipe(Biggest joke...didn't come near to fitting correctly), with the full 3 in. magnaflow. I can't wait to get the car back. Just waiting to get the computer programmed, then I'm going up to dallas to pick her up. I can't wait to see how lloyds heads turned out!!

I put in my Magnaflow and felt it was too loud at part throttle acceleration for my 45 years.Toned it down a bit with a bullet in the pipe before it goes over the axle and some Autozone 3" resonator tips that fit snug right inside the Magnaflow tips.Still nice and raspy but only when I want it.

I have pennys58 car above and he is right, it sounds sweet. It has a very distinct sound. It's hard to explain the tone of the exhaust, but it's a deep hollow sound at idle, and very raspy when you get on it, but no popping. It's just plain nasty...but in a good clean way. LOL, that probably made no sense. IMO, the 3in slash cut tips gota go, they resonate badly at higher rpm's when driving and sound like ***. VERY LOUD! But again, that's just my opinion. It's all in ones taste. The tips look sweet though, very clean looking. The system has no drone, and is fairly quite on the highway. Hope this helps and I'm sure John can give a good description of it when he picks it up. Cory

I added a couple of extra hangers about 8 inches in from the back and used large stainless steel hose clamps to secure the tips. You don't even notice them. Now with 4 points of isolated support my exhaust doesn't vibrate at all, at idle in drive or at high speeds.

My friend has a gutted cat and a magna flow cat back on his 95 and it sounds, in tone, just like my gutted cat flowmaster combo except it is a tad louder. Although he does have a hollow cat.
