plz help I think this body shop's trying to screw me!
I took my car in to a local body shop to get my frame pulled and they're saying I need both lower control arms replaced and my passangers side spindle replaced.
What happened was I lost control and started spinning and hit a curb going like 50.
About 6 months ago when it first happened I took it to the dealership and they said I need to replace the lca and hub assembly on the passangers side so I got some junk yard parts and replaced them at school. After I had done all that work my shop teacher looked at what I had done. He said I didn't even need to replace the parts he said the old ones looked good. So I put the old hub ***. back on. I had the control arm as far over as it would go and we stuck it on the alinement machine and it was still way off. You could visable tell the wheel was on it's edge. So my teacher told me I just needed the frame pulled and then to get it realined.
Now these guys are telling me those 3 suspenison parts (both lca's and spindle) are bad and I need to replace all those parts before they can pull the frame. How can I be for certain that these parts are bad are not???
are these guys b.s.'ing me plz help w/ any tips or suggestions.

I just did a search and couldn't find any useful info. I'm going to check my auto books but guys plz help me I need my car to get around and they're just holding it there right now untill I fig. things out.
You can't visually compare parts side by side. I got hit, my spindle bent (they're VERY soft metal). I got a new one, it looked exactly like the old one. Put it on the alignment machine, and it make about a 7 degree difference (read: MAJOR) even though it looked the exact same. Odds are they know more then you, and if you can bring it to another shop and get the same opinion, then you've solved two problems. You know they're not trying to screw you, and you know what you need to fix.
Good luck
Good luck
The LCAs are in the rear. Those shouldn't bend. If your talking about the A-Arms in the front, then yes, those can bend too, but they'd take significantly more force to bend. Again, visual comparison doesnt do anything. Worst case, get a couple from a dealer. Test fit them, if no better, then return em.
Sounds like a good opportunity to just get some aftermarket stuff
Don't let them charge you an arm and a leg for stock stuff... show up with some aftermarket stuff and say "Here are the new parts you requested"

yeah I was thinking about that but by the time the parts come in from bmr that will be like a week. And my dad's paying for it. It's my birthday present and if I try to do anything aftermarket he'll just get upset with me. That's just the way he is..
