Plugs too hot? Informed opinions wanted
Plugs too hot? Informed opinions wanted
Have been reading up and considering changing plugs. Right now I have autolite 106 plugs in, gapped at .05 and am considering switching to colder NGK TR6/Autolite 104 plugs gapped at .035
With the power levels I'm creating, this would be the right thing to do, yes? Seeing as I'm pushing ~150hp more then stock

Re: Plugs too hot? Informed opinions wanted
You are generally correct. However, if you don't have problems with detonation and your plugs look good, I wouldn't just change them for the sake of change. Here are 2 pages that may be of some help. This one is helpful at step 3 for selecting heat range http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/sparkplugs.html
The next one gives more detailed analysis for problems. http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/engine/plugs.html
And finally this site http://www.ngkspark.com.au/product-spark.html
may be of some help to you also.
It would appear that detailed analysis of the plugs is key. I know Warren Johnson won't drive the car back to the pits so when he looks at the plugs it's strictly from the run and no other driving. Looks like I said a lot but really I didn't say jack but I hope this helps.
