which plug gap and heat range for le1 11:1

Im trying to sort out issues and prep the car for the dyno,

What plug gap and heat range would be best for a 11:1 compression (using .26 gaskets) LE1 package and Delteq Ignition

I am currently running autolite plugs gapped at .05
I have 8 new NGK TR-55s but I am not sure if I should maybe gap them down to like .04 or .045 ; I also would consider getting TR-6 plugs if I need to go to a colder heat range

I am running a bit rich at the moment

I think it also depends on if you're using stock or aftermarket ignition.

Does that bump up the voltage or just bypass the opti?

well stock uses a single coil for 8 cylinders,

Delteq uses 4 much larger northstar Coils, (1 per 2 cylinders) so I have to assume stronger spark

I don't think that more coils mean more voltage. You can run a MSD box through a stock coil to up the ignition. I'd say leave the gap where it is. Use the TR55, should be fine with just 11:1. Do you know your DCR?

How much power over stock? I think injuneer's rule is 1 heat range colder for every 50hp over stock? I dunno, but I run autolite 103's (2 colder) at .035 gap. Works fine for me, and i have 11-1 too. My friend danny runs 103's at .033 on his cam only CC306 and his car made 351 rwhp cam only. He sprays the car, but he runs the 103's all the time.

I am expecting around 380 rwhp, but I will hopefully get it dynoed next weekend after I get the synthetic oil back in, plugs correct, etc

I'm running 104's in mine gapped close to stock. Thing to remember here is that it might be too hot for regular driving around town, but perfect for WOT. Only way to know is to check them regularly after driving or the dyno until you find ones that work.

Not my rule. Used to be they recommended 1 step colder for each 75HP increase, but that was with carbs. Modern EFI engines seem to tolerate more HP with less change on the heat range..... maybe figure one step for every 100-125HP??? In any case don't just assume - read the plugs for possible detonation, tip erosion and fouling to determine what the engine needs.

I run tr55's gapped at .035". I'm in the process of trying different plugs and figuring out what works best. Do what injuneer said and read the plugs.

You could always ask the man himself.. Lloyd. He can also put you in the direction of what he would recommend for your setup.

Lloyd said this:

"I would get Autolite 104 plugs and gap them at .035.

Make sure there are no vacuum leaks between the MAF and TB. Make sure there are no exhaust leaks, etc.

I would get a new set of 7MM wires (not 8, 8.5 or 8.8 MM) from Oreilleys or AutoZone. "

I sent another email requesting why he was against the 8mm wires

First off do you have those wires? If so it's a cheap change to try new ones like he mentioned.

Secondly, he's against them because he had a ignition problem that he had to chase forever and it turned out to be the 8mm wires, switched over to what he recomened to you and bam now it's perfect.

Right now i have the 8mm wires that come with the Delteq

I was planning on using Taylor spiro pro 8mm Do it Yourself wires
Is there any problem with those?

Bret, I was shocked he said Autolite 104 instead of like NGK TR6 or something
What is your opinion on the plugs?
