OK the car has been down for months now I had a bad water pump the car started for a second or 2 after installing new EWP, then died. Now it will not start at all. No spark at the coil or distributor. I bought a used Opti still wouldnt work so maybe it was bad also so I bought a brand new one from Jason Cromer (thanks for the excellent service BTW) installed still no spark. I am now thinking I should have done some testing before replacing the Opti (duh) but it seemed obvious water pump leaked all in it ran rough into garage and then just didnt like all of the anti freeze. Another thing to add when I opened my Opti up to see what was wrong the rotor button had eaten away at the center post in the cap until a ball bearing fell outo of it and it ate a hole in the rotor. But I have a brand new Opti now right.... I am thinking Control Module then coil then PCM No spark at coil or Opti. Can I check any of these are any of them prone to dying as much as the Opti? Please help me I am going broke trying to feed my truck with 36" Super Swampers all the time and buying unecesary parts for the damn car. Bought it from my mother last year or so 30,000 original miles thought it would last a while before needing alot of work.

 

Try replacing the coil.

 

you sure do have alot of vehicles for not knowing crap about the internal combustion engine.

i think you overheated it so bad you blew a head gasket. if the car starts and dies.. hmmm...

 

Screamin Chicken???????????? It started for a second then died no spark since. It just goes to show how lazy you can become working for a dealership with unlimited parts to test with. I was a GM tech for 8 years. When you have an unlimited parts supply in the other room you can just pull a coil or Module off the shelf and try it return it if it doesnt work. I cant do that anymore and I have been out of it so long I dont know how to test an Opti or alot of the new style parts. My 88 Z71 has 240,000 on her though LMAO

 

Replaced coil still no spark... Common guys someone must be here from a troubleshooting background.

 

Found the problem car is now finnally runing again. Just goes to show start with the basics. After replacing the coil and the Opti I found a blown fuse. I am not sure what caused the fuse to blow, I have not read anywhere on here where a bad Opti causes a fuse to blow in the under the hood fuse box. I had already replaced the Opti and the coil so I am leaving them. I was convinced after my W/P went and dumped all that antifreeze in my Opti that that would be the problem and didnt bother to check the basics. You know like power to the coil. LOL I have to laugh other wise I would cry LMAO. Anyway I just thought I would share and give you guys a good laugh. Where is that I am a dumbass emoticon??????
