Please Help W/ Fuel Injectors!
Im trying to install the ford racing 24# injectors on my 95 z and I noticed that the stock injectors when pushed into the fuel rail go all the way into it until they are seated flush against the inside of the hole. in order to get the ford injectors to work with the stock retaining clips they have to be backed off the seat inside the holes. Is this how it is suposed to be or do I need different retaining clips, or do I have the wrong injectors? I would think that the injectors would have to be pressed in all the way to work correctly and not leak. I ordered the injectors from summit in the mustang section, the only part # on the box is M-9593-A302. please help.
Re: Please Help W/ Fuel Injectors!
The injectors don't need to be bottomed out in the intake manifold, as long as the o-rings are below the intake surface they will seal fine. Be sure to apply a small amount of motor oil to the oil rings to allow them to slide into place without getting damaged.
Re: Please Help W/ Fuel Injectors!
I just installed some ford 36#s and i though the same think you did...but i didnt worry i just left it backed out a bit and used the retaining clips. Btw why are you putting new injectors in the stock ones are good for at least 350 rwhp or so.
Re: Please Help W/ Fuel Injectors!
I would also recommend tuning for those, while they are rated the same as stock they are rated at a slightly different pressure. Hope these were to replace faulty stockers or in preparation for a dry shot otherwise it was pretty pointless.
Re: Please Help W/ Fuel Injectors!
The flow difference is insignificant. The stock injectors are programmed as 24.92 #/HR. A 24# injector rated at 2.7bar (39.15psi) will flow 25.30 at 3 bar (43.5psi). I've run the SVO's with no "tuning" and there was no measurable changes in the long term fuel corrections. I also switched to the SVO's to run a dry nitrous system. The stock injectors wil have problems with the elevated pressure of the dry shot.
