Please help, info needed on o2 sensors and header install

hey guys I need your help. I am installing my headers (long tubes) on my
97 camaro 6-speed, and I forgot which o2 sensors are the front and which are the rear. One pair are the 4 pin flat connectors, the other pair are the 4 pin square connectors, or does it not matter?

Also my headers have a 2 bunge for the o2 seonsors, so 2 bunges for each header. Can just in stall all four o2 sensors in the headers and not use the sims..........

The pre-cat O2 sensor connectors are flat, the after-cat are square. You have to put the right sensors in the right location or it will screw things up - it will be impossible for the PCM to control the A/F ratio.

Do you have cats in the system? If you don't, you need the sims. How can each side header have 2 bungs for the O2 sensors. One needs to be pre-cat (on the header) and the other needs to be mounted after the cat, so you can't mount the after-cat sensor on the header. It would be on the Y-pipe or in the exhaust pipes in a true duals system.

Thanks man, so now I know which o2 goes where,

but yes my headers has 2 bunges in each header, so I could mount the front and rear o2 sensors in the headers......

No cats, it is the race pipe from FLP.

Re: Please help, info needed on o2 sensors and header install

Why would the actual "header" have two O2 bungs on it? If it has two on each side, EXACTLY where are they? Both in the collector, immediately after the point where the 4 tubes merge? Something screwy here. Or is one on the header collector, and the other on the Y-pipe, so it would be after the cat?

If you aren't using the cats, you will need to plug O2 sensor "sims" in the harness in place of the two after-cat sensors, or you will need to have the after-cat sensors "programmed out" of the PCM. Otherwise, you will be staring at a constant SES light.
