Please help info needed on air removal used search.
Hey guys I just did my long tube header install and race Y pipe, (no cats).
If I hook up the air to the headers will I still get a code even though I do ot have cats.
I am running sims to the rear o2 sensors. Right now the air system is left running with open hoses. I got a SES light.
So if I hook the air hoses to the headers will I still get a code if I do not have cats.
97 camaro, FLP headers, mid pipe, loudmouth cat back.

Why dont you just take out the AIR system if you don't have cats? No reason for it now. I took mine out and it actually hasn't fired a code. Go figure???

And in response to your question; If you have all you AIR components working, I dont see why it should matter if you dont have cats. It should be able to read that the AIR pump is doing its job so I dont see why you car would read an issue. I am surprised that you got a code as is. You said that you just had open AIR hoses, but are your header mounts for your AIR closed? They need to be closed for an accurate O2 reading from your primary O2 sensors

What code do you get?
I just put slp shorties and an ORY on my 97 Z, with some casper rear O2 sims. It ran fine for 2 weeks, now it throws an egr (400) code at me every couple days. Cleaned the passage, replaced the valve, no change in symptom. I hear some LT1 cars need backpressure for the egr to work right. I suspect I have too little backpressure with my OE cat back, wouldn't suprise me if you're having problems with the aftermarket cat back. Oh, and my AIR system still works, but after the header install I accidentally left the electrical connector unhooked for a couple days. Suprisingly, no code.
Still searching for a solution other than an aftermarket tune to delete the egr. Probably could have bought one for what I've spent on the O2 sims and egr valve.

The air system is hooked with with open lines so it blows air toward the ground and yes it threw a code. So I figuere since I got a code anyway may as well take the air stuff out.
Deckstripes, I wonder if you are right, I basicly have a totally fre flowing exhaust so I know I do not have back preasure. I will run a code check to see what is going on...
