Please help, how do I get to these 2 bolts on header install.

Hey guys I have a 97 camaro and I installin long lubes but I am stuck on these 2 bolts. I have the altenator and starter removed. It is the very first bolt on the passenger side manifold by the altenator and the very last bolt on the passenger side manifold by the o2 sensor. I can not get these.
Please help

the bolt by the altenator has a metal line that goes right in front of it.
Where I tried to take the line off, oil was coming out.

that is your power steering fluid. i always start with the outer most two, and barely thread them in. then i put one by one in moving inward.

I long 9/16 wrench got the first one for me. For the rear most bolt I used a standard ratchet from under the car. Car was a 97. Not hard at all once the cats and y pipe are outta the way. What's the problem??

That first one is a bitch because you can barely turn it each turn, but it will come. It just takes a while.

I just used a 3inch extension and socket on a ratchet. It was just long enough to clear the manifold and just short enough to clear the shock tower. Then you just have to feel around until you hit it.

The one in the rear I did not have TOO much trouble with. Try either crawling up onto that plastic cover on top of your radiator for a differant angle, using your other hand (you would be surprised how much a different angle helps), and also try standing backwards to the car (again, this different angle can be very helpful). If you play around with that one it shouldn't be too bad.

As far as the front pass. side bolt - PITA! I think I used a short (maybe 3") extention that was attached to a U-Joint which had the socket and bolt on it. I used that and just kinda crushed my hand and fingers in there too to help get it going. I also ripped out the AIR tube that is in the way (took out my AIR and EGR during the header install). That freed up some room and allowed the extension/u-joint combo to get in there. Sorry to say but there is no easy way for this one. It takes time but you will get it. Another tip is to wrap a little electrical tape around the socket and bolt so that it doesnt fall out when trying to position it.

Good Luck!

lol i actually did these 2 last night. friend was doing his and called me up to look at my engine bay. when i got there he had them to bolts left.
the back one i did from the bottom with a short socket. the front one, i did from the top after we took all the smog off. so all that was outta the way. the steering pump line was in the way quite a bit. just worked around it, getting 2 clicks each time. not that bad though
