Please help, How can I get rid of this "SKIP SHIFT"
Re: Please help, How can I get rid of this "SKIP SHIFT"
welcome to the boards.
You can buy a skip shift eliminator from www.thunderracing.com, or you can do it manually.
There is a good guide at http://www.ls1.com/link_cags.html
Its not a tough fix. I have mine tuned out in my PCM, but you can do it this way.

Re: Please help, How can I get rid of this "SKIP SHIFT"
disco pretty much took care of the methods. Just a note if you do either of the two methods he showed in the links you will still have the skip shift light come on, it just won't actually make you skip shift. The only way to get the light to go out besides pulling the bulb is to have it programmed out of your PCM.

How do you get th skip shift programmed out. So even if I buy the elminiator it will still cause the light to come on. Who can program it out of the computer?
Re: Please help, How can I get rid of this "SKIP SHIFT"
Well you may be able to find someone in your area that can program it out for you for free if not you would have to send it to madwolf or pcm4less which would be expensive for what you want to have done. I would wait for a pcm program unless you can get it done for free from someone local or until you have more mods to justify the tune.

Just uplug it, and wrap the end of the wire good with black tape. so what if the little light comes on in the corner of your dash? Mine's been that way now for 2 years, best thing I did to that car.

If his car is a 97 with OBDII wont just unplugging it and wraping it with tape signal a SES light? I could be wrong.
I'd recommend getting the eliminator as mentioned above. It fools your PCM into thinking it is still hooked up.
