Please help, Car won't start, don't know what to do.

I just had to replace the waterpump drive coupling...all the splines got stripped out. I got everything put back togeather last night, and now the car won't start. I will crank, and j u s t b a r e l y catches, almost like one cylinder is half firing. The engine has fuel, I can smell it.

Any ideas? Where should I start looking for what I F'd up?

Sounds to me like you put the opti on wrong.. If you dont know what Im talking about there are three spaces in the drive of the opti.. One has a notch in it. thats the one the cam dowel goes into and drives the opti.. I dont know why the other two are there. But if you only replaced the water pump drive shaft I dont see why you would have taken it off. Check your coil wire and all connections..

Sounds like a spark issue since you're smelling fuel. Check if your getting spark out the opti.[FONT=Arial]

Definetly sounds like an opti issue since you messed with the water pump. Did you spill any coolant on/in it?

I never had the Opti off when I did the WP, and I was careful to keep the coolant off of it. It's got to be a spart issue, I just am having trouble tracking it down.

Pull the wire off the opti from the coil and connect a spark plug or better yet a spark tester on that wire. Be sure the tool or the plug is grounded. Have someone crank it and you look for spark. If it's sparking, put the wire back on the opti and pull a plug wire and plug. Check that wire and plug for spark.

Let us know what you find.
