Please Help car wont start!!!

Ok I was on my way home from work tonight when my gas peddal started to feel like mush. Like when you are running on fumes, and your car is out of gas. Well I tried to limp her home but service engine light came on and she died. It has been had to start for a while now but it allways started. I know its fuel but I am not sure what it is exactly. Please help !!
Thanks, Anthony My car is a 94 camaro z28

Testing for spark and fuel would be the first things to do. If you have spark, the only real way to tell about fuel is to attach a fuel pressure test gauge on the schrader valve. That sounds like it is going to be tough to accomplish tonight.

Thanks , Shoebox I know all the part stores are closed . I don't have a fuel pressure tester. I thought for a while that it might be a problem with my fuel pressure regulator why it has been hard to start . Sence it allways started and ran fine I was putting it off till spring. Looks like the car won't let me put it off ...lol Could the hard starting be that my fuel pump was going bad and it just now died . I dont hear the wining noise I used to . Oh and where is the fue pump located at ? In the tank ? Thanks again Shoebox

Yes, the fuel pump is in the tank. Have you ever replaced your fuel filter? It's possible that this is just clogged.

But, if you don't here the pump kick on, then more than likely that's what it is. I would definately get a fuel pressure gauge and do a check.

the pump usually gets louder the older it gets...checking the fuel filter is a good idea....it is probably fully blocked off. changing the pump is a pain though because you gotta take the tank out. at least i thought it was.

But if the fuel pump is seized it will not buzz upon key.
