I have no clue what is going on with my car. Ocassionally it decides to drop to about 500 rpms when I am slowing down. And when I come to a complete stop, the car acts like its going to die and sometimes does. It also seems to be guzzling gas more than usual, and will back fire when I let off the throttle. Although, when I accelerate the car runs fine. This first happened about 7 months ago and then the car ran perfectly until it happened again 3 days ago. It ran fine the next 2 days, drove fine for half of today, then did it again tonight. It started dying at almost every stop. This is really starting to **** me off. Do you guy have any idea what it is? At first I think Opti, but I recently had it tested and everything was fine. I also had the ignition coil and module replaced about 3 months ago. I am lost, please help a fellow f-body owner out. Thank you.

 

I'd check for vacuum leaks. These cars have a lot of problems with that and it gives the symptoms you mentioned. I'd look around the intake...spray some brake cleaner in there and see if it affects the idle at all. Make sure all of your vacuum hoses are secure, and you can try replacing the EGR solenoid and EVAP solenoid, since they sometimes fail and cause leaks. Also, check out the EVAP canister under the rear wheelwell, sometimes hoses fall off of that thing and leak.

Also remember that it could be wires or plugs, or anything fuel related as well.

TTT....please help guys. It happened again tonight and its really starting to **** me off.

 

any codes?,only doing it when hot/cold?only at idle and fine elsewhere?if it is only at idle i would check the iac valve. could possible be the o2 sensors also.
