PLEASe help asap, everyone inside :(

i have some big problems guys, hope you can help.

i have a 1996 formula. bought it with 71K miles on the dial. i then proceeded to buy some 93 lt1 heads that were port and polished by another board member, they were a mild port job, nothing major, i also bought new pushrods, and the lt4 hot cam kit. i had a local mechanic install in it in my car, as i was going home, not even 15 miles, the car started acting up on me and turned off. i thought it was the battery so i bought a new battery, errr, it wasnt the battery. i would turn the car on and when i would try to drive it, it would turn off, so i thought it was the opti, bought a new opti and coil. errr still not the problem so the mechanic that put the opti for me told me i had low compression in cylinders on the passenger side. so i take it back the original mechanic and he tells me this.

i had 3 messed up lifters, and 3 messed up pushrods. he told me cus i didnt have no guideplates to keep the pushrods and 3 of them got messed up.

my question is, do i just buy some guideplates and buy the same pushrods? cus the local speedshop told me i had to get some magnum comp cams pushrods ($160) to use for the guideplates? are they tryign to jip me. or they are telling the truth? as far as the lifters should i buy some other ones, do i need upgrade, or can i get some stock lifters that you guys that did the switch have laying around? i really need help, i bought this car back in febuary, and i used it for a total of 2 months this year i really want my beast at the track smoking some 'stangs and ricers please any help is greatly appreciated, please just post opinions, and those who have done the mods i have done, your opinion and help is greatly appreciated! if any more insight email me at

GreenGoblin956@yahoo.com

thanks, i hope i get this fixed.

by the way, any of you have some spare lifters laying around? i need 3 of them

you really should use guide plates with that much lift.

stock pushrods and lifters will work with the "little" cams such as the hotcam. i'm running a 545 555 lift with stock lifters and pushrods.

if your in cen tx i have a couple extra sets i would let you have a few.
