Planning a new race engine, need opinions.

Planning a new race engine, need opinions.
I'm planning to build 365 cid LT1 with AFR 210 LT4's, but I don't know which valvetrain to use hyd roller or solid roller. I'm leaning towards the soild roller in the 250/260 @ 0.050 dur range with 12.0 cr and shaft mount rockers. This will be a race car and nothing else so I'm not worried with manners, but I will be retaining the stock pcm for now so that means keeping the rpms below 7000 even though the engine will withstand much more. Any ideas or opinions will be welcome.

IF manners are no concern I would deffinitely go with solid valvetrain.
Also what are the flow numbers for those heads, that will effect the camshaft you use greatly.
Staying with stock PCM shouldn't be an issue at all.
What are your goals for the car, ET or hp goal?

If you want to keep the rpm's down...use up the heads with more cubes.
I have a great set of AFR 210's...and it kills me knowing that I will be limited to 7000+/- rpm range.
What you might want to consider is (I am at least)...putting a nice single plane intake converted for EFI, speed density setup and shift the puppy in the 8000 rpm range.
Something else...once you start getting into big, big heads...you will need some better headers.

Nick, I don't know thw flow #'s yet but once the winter comes I'll know more.
I want to run 6.70's in the 1/8 and my car weights around 3400 with me in it.
Cantonracer, I would love to do just what you said, but my money isn't that long just yet.

A hydraulic lifter has a built in "lash adjuster" that is pressure fed with oil thru the block to prevent you from having to set and adjust the valve lash like a solid lifter needs.
