Car won't idle when cold

When I start it up the tach goes from 500-1000 and stalls out sometimes. Is there a sensor or something I could clean?

I've replace the opti and coil. If I give it a little gas its fine. I think its a sensor.

Re: Car won't idle when cold

you could check the " idle control motor "

or i would check to make sure that the large rubber hose that has the maf doesn`t have any cracks in it. sometimes if there cracked the computer sees too much air and tries to compensate it. that might cause it to stall.

also, check for any vacume leaks, i believe you can clean the idle control motor with some gumout or something.

does the car have any codes?

check for vaccuum leaks like posted above, also check your fuel filter, test for fuel pressure...it may be clogged/low pressure if its fine when you hit the gas.

Re: Car won't idle when cold

I figured it out. I changed the waterpump last week and apparently forgot to tighten the main clamp on the rubber intake hose, lol. That was an easy fix.
