Pitting around water jackets

Supposed to get my head gaskets shipped Monday. I cleaned up the block free of any old gasket material. Around the holes where the large coolant passages are there is some corrosion. It never leaked before and I could see where the previous gasket had sealed up around the passage so it didnt leak. Should I be worried about this in the future? The block had been rubuilt about 2 years ago, bearings, new pistons, bored, reused the crank and the rods. The deck was only cleaned up,but I dont recall the coolant holes looking like this, I hope its just normal. Like I said, it wasnt an issue before, I would assume a little wear is normal aroun those coolant passages, I hope.

A MUCH higher resolution picture would be more beneficial. Can't really see much there...

That's interesting....I don't recall seeing that on my block last time I had it apart. What coolant are you using? Using any additives in it? Did you use distilled water to mix with the coolant(or did you buy premixed coolant)?

Not uncommon, the ports in the head don't cover there, so coolant always sits there, but I agree with the above, what coolant are you using?

Just some premixed coolant. Also a little off topic, got my head gaskets in today and of course the coating on them peeled off when I was taking them out of the package. Darn. Gonna send them back and get the Victor Reinz ones instead. I talked to someone and they said they arent packaged as tightly.
