Which pistons should I choose?
Which pistons should I choose?
I'm tring to decide between the speed-pro power forged piston(10.4 CR) or K.B. hypereutectic (10.9 CR).
I don't plan on running NOx or a supercharger, but I want a piston that will handle my foot. For now I will be running the HOT cam with stock heads and stock manifold. So will the K.B piston be fine for this application? Or if I did go with the heavier forged pistons, will they hurt my performance being heavier?

I am no expert engine builder, but I would only consider a forged piston for a rebuild of a performance engine. It is JMHO, but hyper and cast pistons are fine for grocery getters and such, but just not my cup of tea for any performance engine. I'd only recommend a hyper if you are on a tight budget.
Had over 100 passes on a set of KB hypers before refreshing a 353 ci bracket racer here two years ago. Shifting at 7900 rpm and coming through the traps at just over 8 grand.
Other than a bit of pin bore elongation (I've seen similar from forgings) the KB's did their job, then some. No excessive scuffing, no signs of cracks, money well spent. If going NA, they are a really nice piston to use if you're looking to save some money. No sacrafice in durability as far as I'm concerned.

Hypereutectic not recommended, not durable enuf. Weight issue is mute point, when 'minimum durability requirement' takes precedent.

Thanks
My error. I understod/answered as if you WERE planning on FI. My comments apply to the extra power sources you stated you were NOT using, as KB would agree with.
