Re: piston selection

I'd use the Mahle Flat Tops.

The setups are designed for flat top pistons in a stroker.

Re: piston selection

where is a good place to purchase from? I had a list of sites to buy from when I was building my engine but they were lost in the great computer screw up of 2004.

finding LT1 parts is hard when everyone is converting to LS1 only

Re: piston selection

I'd have to agree with Bret, I love mahle pistons. I can't say anything about Probe cause I have never used them. I would sell you my mahle's, but they are for a 6" rod, I think a blower is in the future so I need a bigger dish.

Re: piston selection

The Mahle's are good pistons. There have been more than a few guys lately who have had problems with them in really high compression drag and sprint engines though. I think they're just fine for street but I wouldn't put one in a heavily blown street/strip or high comp race engine, but that's just me.

For an all out street screamer I like to use a piston with a 1.2/1.2/3mm ring stack. So that takes a lot of the lower cost piston makers out of the equation unless you ask them for a "custom".

In lieu of that..... for high quality lower cost forgings, it's hard to beat Diamond.

The KB flat tops are about $200 at Summit.
