Re: pictures of whats left of my engine

Is the block salvageable? Until you said the piston went back up through the intake valve I was looking at the pictureas and thinking you had more than one spun bearing...lol

I have a one up on you as well, but not an LT1. We had an old camaro that the block was windowed in 4 places , this was at about 70 mph wrapping the thing out. Whats bad is one of the fragments that came through the side of the motor severed the rubber brake line up from making the slowdown very scary...lol, too bad it was before we all carried cameras around with us ,(early 80s) it would have made some nice pictures. I do still have the block as a memento.

Re: pictures of whats left of my engine

I've always wanted to blow up a motor, just for the hell of it. Maybe the 3.4 will get some metal shavings in the oil when the LT1 is ready... Nah, then I can't put it in a go kart.

Because after dyno tuning my car the power was still climbing at 7000rpm. It would fall off at 7300rpm. Thats with the stock PCM by the way I left the shift points at 6800rpm to help the motor live a little bit longer, obviously that didn't help much.

Admit it...rather than get beat by someone you know whom has a Lightning, you blew it up to get out of the race...

Many, many times did the Lightning (again, not saying names), put the hurting to ya....heck, one time I was thinking he must have pulled the parking brake being I pulled away instead of shifting a gear....

Freaking maniac!

May just be mine if the thing doesn't hold up tonight at the track

Seriously think it's close to being on it's last leg. Not sure tho, haven't had it out since we ran all night Saturday.

Telling you...once they let loose, costs more than pulling it beforehand and salvaging some parts.

Well that all depends on what you wanna do, If you just replace the bearings and polish the crank journals yourself, youre looking at about 200$, if you pull the pistons out youre gonna add another 100$ plus time of honing the cylenders. Plus you'll find all sorts of other stuff you want to work over while youre there.
