I don't know if you were talking about whether or not the motor and trans can come out together with the happy hooker, or period. It can and has come out togther for quite a few people with regular engine chains. It seems that it should work for the happy hooker too.

Quite a few people have taken 2 out TOGETHER , and some even put it back in that way. There are a few sites with pictures around the net. I don't even think you would need a happy hooker though .

The last guy I saw take his out together was an ls1 car, and he just used rugular chains. Sometimes , I wonder what people are talking about when they say pulling engines in these cars is hard . The only hardest labor is removing harder to get too things like headers bolts etc. The engine comes out easy from the top with standard chains EASY . Just rotate it 90 degrees. ( The front and back of the engine will be facing the shock towers) and lift it right up. Actually you don't even have to rotate it, but it's easier that way, because if you don't rotate it, you will have to tilt it, which still is not hard for 2 or more people.

Once the engine hoist and chain was hooked to mine, the engine was out in probably ACTUALLY less than 5 minutes. Just pull the A/C assembly forward by hand, or tie it with bungee cord etc. I pulled them seperately , but will try putting them back in together. One of the keys to pulling engines in these cars is the way you hook the chains up to the engine before you start. (position, location)

only need 2 floorjacks to take it out the bottom. One under the kmember, one under the transmission.

Get the body high with jackstands. the nose of my car was 34 inches off the ground.

Not to mention I put the motor and transmission and suspension in, in less than an hour. Guaranteed to be easier than through the top. dont have to **** with headers or the radiator.

I could probably have the motor out in a few hours from the bottom.

Got my buddy from online to host some pics.

Here it is. We basically just had to remove one motor mount so we could clear it foward, other then anitfreeze pissing all over it was a breeze.

This is just a side shot.

This is the angle that we came out on, we didnt really need that much but it was too late. You have to jack the rearend of the trans up as it slides foward till a certian point. The car was on jackstands then one the engie was up, we tool the stands out and lowered the car for better clearence.

This was actually quite simple, not at all hard.

People really do make too much of an issue out of pulling an engine from our cars! I pulled my engine and put it back in by myself, from the top without removing the tranny. It only took me about 3.5 hours to get it back in and bolted up.

I've seen it done many, many times from the top with the tranny still attached to the engine. You need to pop the hood struts off so you can swing the hood back far enough (tie the hood to something on the ceiling to keep it out of the way). Take your time and be careful...the plastic cowl piece under the windshield will give you a little grief, but it will bend out of the way.

If you noticed we removed the plastic cowl piece, its about 10 lock plugs and the windshield wipers to get off and it gets you an extra 4 or 5inches of clearence.

Thanks for the pics guys.

gb95, what is a pain dropping the engine in with the headers too? Also what headers are you running?

Sorry...should have mentioned thats from Christian Millards web sight and thats his car. He did say he was unable to get the engine in with the headers on.

I pulled mine form the top but unbolted the tranny first....I left the clutch assembly and bell house on.
