Periodic problems starting 96LT1 and suddenly dies as well.
I recently got a 1996 LT1 Camaro and I was told that the car had some sort of electrical gremlin-- from what the guy could tell.
The car does not always turn on on the first try. When it doesn't turn on, I check for fuel pressure and all is good (between 45-50 PSI). However, when it cranks but doesn't fire, I have no spark to the plugs (car has new iginition control module and coil).
Also, all of a sudden it dies after running for a good amount of time. It just dies and won't fire to the plugs when it does.
I helped a cousin of mine replace his opti a couple years ago but remember his car sputtering and running real crappy. I don't remember whether his car used to die all of a sudden while driving.
Can someone help out before I get a new opti or go spend money at the electrical shop?
Thanks,
PL

Check all the harnesses for continuity. How old is the coil?
If it dies once in a while, it could be doing it when the car gets hot which would still be the coil or ICM.

I drove the car today for about 20 minutes on a 15 mile trip or so. I was running it at 75 mph tops and the car was running fine.
What I noticed was when I disconnected the battery the other day, when I hooked it back up, it did not want to start. A couple of hours later it started right up.
I am also thinking that the harness and pcm may be the contributing factor. The guy I got it from said the pcm had been re flashed at a local chevy dealer.
Can my A/C not be working due to the pcm being flashed (incorrectly or otherwise?)
If I send direct 12V power to the green wire on the compressor, is this the power that sets off the entire A/C system?? Here in south Texas it is already getting close to the 100 degree mark! Not very nice to not have A/C.
