Performance with 2.73's and 2800 stall
I went to the track on Friday, and couldn't do better than 2.3's on street tires with my 2800 stall and 2.73's...
People told me that i should be cutting 2.0's right now..
any comments?
it feels kinda sluggish right now from idle to when it's catching up..
i'm also revving it up to the point where the tires are spinning, because if i'll just drop the pedal to the floor, it will spin like crazy qith 2.4-2.5 60's..
let me know what u think..
thanks

Re: Performance with 2.73's and 2800 stall
do you have tires that hook? if not then you need to get some because the stall will bring the car higher in the powerband and you will spin a lot worse than before
go buy some ET Streets or BFG DRs and set them to 15psi at the track when the green light goes nail the gas as hard as you can and see what happens!
also do you have any suspension parts?
these are all factors that you have to consider!! "all the power in the world is no good unless you can get it to the ground!"

Re: Performance with 2.73's and 2800 stall
in my experience with 2.73's you may think they are a sluggish gear (which they are lol), but they will still give you a decent amount of tire spin with most street tires....so with a stall it will be even worse. From what I hear a stall is almost pointless unless you can hook up and more times than not you wont be able to hook up with street tires. Go get you some mickey thompson drag radials, et streets, or some bfg drag radials and get some 1.9 60 foots for sure....then after that get some 3.73's and you will be money.
Re: Performance with 2.73's and 2800 stall
my friend with his 97 z28 cut 2.0's on street tires and 2800 stall with 2.73's..
the car feels like it's not running right at low rpm, kinda misfiring..
i noticed that my elbow is ripped on the bottom, would that cause anything for sttutering..
and the feel of sluggish?
thanks,

Re: Performance with 2.73's and 2800 stall
Ripped elbow can cause problems. The rip is past the MAF sensor so, the engine is getting more air than it is reading. Fix the rip and see if inproves is the best thing to do. Just my .02
Re: Performance with 2.73's and 2800 stall
as mentioned above you need traction! when I still had 2.73s on street tires and no stall I cut a best 60ft of 2.04 so with a stall and traction you should be below that.
