People with LT's, Collector clearance question:

I'm finally finishing up my LT install, which turned into a major project, but anyways the drivers side header looks almost not low enough. Where the collector would bolt up it, my tranny mount looks like its gonna be in the way. Is this normal??

Might these headers be pacesetters?

It's normal. If you buy a hooker y pipe, it actually has a dent in it to clear the cross member.

had the same problem with my pacesetters. Sucked alot when i ran the true duals.

I know the pacesetter y-pipe is dented for it. I actualy dented my own pipe when i made my true dual, but then i didn't like how it worked out so i went with a striaght 3 inch pipe. I bent the bump on the car upward with a floor jack. So far i have not had a problem, and i'm pretty sure i few other people have done that as well. Now that side hits the floor board slightly on hard turns, but only when i first start the car. once the car warms up it runs alot smoother i guess nad it doesn't hit.

Well that sucks. I'm planning on just having an exhaust shop make the whole thing. Should I go pre-fab? Otherwise what, they're just gonna take a huge hammer to the new tubing? I've seen a picture of someones custom y-pipe with cats installed, all jet hot coated, it was beautiful, but didn't have a dent that i remember. Mufflex made it I think......

be careful when you take a hammer to the pipe. I heated my pipe up with map gas in order to bend it alittle. But unfortunatly it is so close to the collector that it is not easy to dent that and not dent the end that has to line up to the collector.

If you can find a midas muffler shop that can deal with 3 inch then they can do it for you with no problem. The guy was actually going to do it for nothing for me.

Yea supposedly the Tuffy shop does custom, 3"inch included. I still might trim the lip of the tranny mount to gain some clearance. Thats gonna definetly be a new rattle spot.
Also, I can't believe people who've said they've installed these headers in like 2 hours. These were the hardest headers i've ever installed. I had to lower the front subframe for the passenger side. Amazing, but worth it.
