People with the LT4 Hotcam kit...question

I'm running the LT4 hotcam kit (less the valve springs which are Thunder Racing) and the bigger LT4 valves and had a valve spring break on me. I'm going with the LT4 valve springs as a replacement and someone told me that they are marginal even with the stock LT1 cam. Has anyone here had any problems with the LT4 valve springs?

Thanks!

I haven't had any problems.

As long as your valve lash is set properly, u won't have any valve float, as long as u aren't revving to an insane amount of RPMs.

Are u worried about them breaking? Valve springs don't break as easily as some people think they do. For the lift of the stock cam, even the hot cam, they are sufficient. If ur going Solid Roller, obviously that is something different. I wouldn't worry about it, as long as the valvetrain is setup and shimmed properly.

Thanks for the info! Actually, I have a broken spring now. It was a Thunder Racing valve spring, but I'm replacing it with the LT4 valve spring. I have the LT4 hotcam and the 1.6 GM rocker rollers with the LT4 valves as well. Thanks again!

From what I have heard is you wouldn't want to run a cam any larger then the lt4 hotcam with those springs and 1.6RR...but they should be plenty good on a stock cam. I guess whoever told you that must have heard wrong. Anyhow, almost 2 years now on the hotcam with lt4 springs and not a single problem yet. I shift at the track at around 6200rpm and once accidently had it at 6400rpm..

Don't think GM would sell them together all the time if it wasn't good for it. I've got them and when I took my heads in for the valve grind, the head man told me that they were putting out 100#'s so it would be more than enough for the cam. Like 94 Camaro said....I wouldn't go bigger though, make sure you set the lash right.
