Pcv Tube Leaking Oil?

I am not sure if this is what it is but The black hose that connects to the
throttle body and runs to the back of the engine and plugs into the valve cover has a lot of black residue and what seems to be oil at the connection at the throttle body. Is this the PCV?
Why is it leaking oil?
WHat is the function of this?
Is there a repair for this?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Pcv Tube Leaking Oil?

That's not the line for the actual PCV valve (that is located on the driver's side of the intake manifold). Its a line that supplies filtered air, that has been measured by the MAF sensor, to the passenger side valve cover. That air is pulled through the crankcase and the lifter valley by the vacuum from the PCV valve.

If your PCV valve plugs up and can't remove blowby, or if the rings are bad and you are getting more blowby than the PCV system can handle, the pressure is relieved by the crankcase vapors flowing backwards through the passenger side valve cover, through the hose to the throttle body. Check under the top cover on the throttle body, and in the blade bores for oil buildup.... a sign that you have a plugged PCV valve, or excessive blowby.

Re: Pcv Tube Leaking Oil?

Thanks A lot to both of you !

I have an autozone like 3 blocks away from my house.
So let met get this straight, this breather is just " PLug and PLay" right?
I use the same stock hose and the Breather will fit right in and in a couple of
drives I will feel the difference? I do notice that there are times in the same day when the car runs weaker than others where it feels like more pedal is needed.
Thanks!

Yea just put it on and go.
I think I had to mabe cut the hose down alittle.
Sould be fine as long as it's just sucking up the oil.
Not engine problems.

Take Care,

Chris.
