pcv hose gone...explain gas in oil???

new motor, about 300mi on it, running rich +25%LT's the hose from under the TB to the pcv valve was off the entire time, i know it explains the rich condition...but would it explain the gas smell in oil situation.

also, there is a little bit of oil coming from the cyl head to engine block deck, just a bead of oil on a little bit of head gasket sticking out...also there is a little bit of oil dripping down the starter....any ideas?

thanks guys!

Not sure why that would "explain a rich condition". It would produce a small vacuum link, and the long term fuel corrections should have been able to compensate for it, unless they are already max'd out by some other problem. It would account for a lack of crankcase evacuation, and that would leave condensed bypass vapor, consisting primarily of a lot of water vapor and a little bit of unburned HC's.

Reconnect the vacuum line for the PCV valve, and see if it lowers the long terms. If not, you've got something causing a "false" lean, not a true lean condition.

If you actually have gas in the oil you have a bad fuel pressure regulator. Check the line to the reg for fuel. If you don't find any I'd just change the oil and reconnect the PVC line.
