PCV Catch can?

Has anybody thought about doing something like the LS1 guys are doing to prevent oil from being sucked into the intake throught the PCV system. I noticed that there is a hose that goes from the Valve cover into the side of the TB. I was wondering if a catch can like the LS1 guys use could help keep the oil from building up inside our intakes and forming deposites? I could be wrong and this may not even be where our PCV systems draw vaccum from but the oil has to be getting in there somewhere. Just an idea.

yeah thats not the PCV, the pcv is on the driver side of the intake manifold...but one would think oil was getting in through there...im about to block mine off and put a breather there with my new valve covers...well see how it works

Re: PCV Catch can?

I put a greddy catch can inline and it only helped a little. I ended up removing it for space reasons, but i prefer to have a complete solution to the problem and block off the port on the TB and run a breather in the valve cover.

Re: PCV Catch can?

I was thinking about doing the same thing, I just didn't know if the catch can may work. I noticed the LS1 guys are running very small catch cans that are usually built around something like an air/water seperator filter.

My original plan was to do the breather filters on the valve covers.

Thanks for the help guys.

Re: PCV Catch can?

The line from the throttle body to the passenger side valve cover is the line that SUPPLIES filtered/MAF-measured air from a port in front of the TB blades, to the valve cover, where it is pulled through the crankcase and lifter valley by the PCV system. If you have excessive oil buildup in that line, and the top of the TB, it could be the result of excessive piston ring blowby, or even a plugged PCV valve.
