pcmforless vs. madz28
Re: pcmforless vs. madz28
it helps to have a laptop. youll have to get a wire to plug in under your dash to a port on your computer. get the cables here: http://www.akmcables.com/ . the rest comes in an email package that you have to load. simple process.
Re: pcmforless vs. madz28
Basically you need to buy a ALDL cable for your car. You'll need one with a OBDII style connector. You plug one end into the ALDL port under your drivers side dash and the other end to the serial port of your computer. You dont need a laptop, but it might make things easier. I just lug my desktop out into the garage and load the tune he sent me in an email. He does not send you the equipment, but the only necessary things are: Computer with serial port, internet access, and ALDL cable for OBDII.
An example of Ion's customer service. Late this afternoon I emailed Ion for a tune to update my idle RPM. It hasnt even been 10 hours and I have the tune ready to load at my convenience. Thanks Ion

The ALDL ports changed in 95 to the OBDII style. Even though your computer was still OBDI. You basically have two options, buy a OBDI style if you find a deal on one and use Shoebox's website to adapt it to a OBDII port or you can just find a striaght OBDII ported wire. I cant afford to buy things new so I bought mine from the board for $20 shipped. I'd keep looking around and place a WTB ad for it. The cost vs benefit depends on how much you use Madwolf. He just sent me my 5th tune, I never thought I'd need 5 tunes for a bolt on, but things happen. I think if I sent him my PCM each time it costs like $60 plus shipping and maybe a lower price for retunes. Thats like $300 with shipping. Its also 15 business days to get it back. Its happily only cost me $55 + LT1 KM and maybe an hour of time.

No brainer answer here;
BOTH of these tuners know their stuff - you cannot go wrong with either of them.
I agree with Shoebox as far as comparisons go - you would need 2 pcm's and the same conditions to properly compare the 2.

pcmforless was/is great to me. Got me my computer rather fast considering I'm pretty far away. also replied to any of my questions rather fast. I only had two problems and one of those problems may not have nothing to do with the tune. The other problem will easilly be solved when my cable gets here so I can read my code. Overall I love the new tune. It's made my car night and day. Only thing left is to get it on the dyno and at the track. Thanks for the hard work Brian. I got 3 more people coming your way.
Re: pcmforless vs. madz28
I bought a madz28 email tune a few days ago, and in so far no response? It's annoying not knowing what speed im going on the highway with 4.10s in the car! I got a chp tailing me, and I just pulled off real quick. musta been doing 10 over or so, since I have to guess lol. I have tunercat and may just start messing with it to try to fix my speedo, cant be that hard.
how long does it normally take him to get you the email tune from the day you send the payment? I tried pming him but no response to that.

Re: pcmforless vs. madz28
I had tunes from both on the same engine combo and they were within 10rwhp/10-15rwtq (if I remember correctly. these numbers are not exact, but close). Keep in mind that these dyno pulls were on different days with different conditions so I would imagine that both tunes were reasonably close power wise.
