pcmforless vs. madz28

Re: pcmforless vs. madz28
This subject has been covered many times. That being said I love my Mad tune. I notice a seat of the pants difference. My car used to pop and sound like a farm truck. That and a few other minor issues were resolved with the tune.
Re: pcmforless vs. madz28
For what its worth, I just got a tune done by madz28, it cost only 125.00 and the results were amazing. One of the best value mods. I can think of. Also, I am in Illinois and have to deal with strict emissions compliance and I installed a set of LTs. I was having problems with the EGR functioning. He was able to tune it where it operates and is now emissions compliant.

Re: pcmforless vs. madz28
I don't think you can go wrong with either. Both are well respected and great at what they do. I don't think you'll find anything wrong with either of them.
I used Bryan at PCMForLess because he is 2 hours from me and I wanted a dyno tune. He seemed genuinely enthusiatic about tuning my car and took the time to explain everything he did. I had a baseline email tune from Joe Overton and Bryan still managed to find 20rwhp in 100 degree heat.
I'm sure you'll find tons of similar good experiences with both tuners. I will say that if you have the $$ and want your car dailed in, you should get it dyno tuned regardless of who you pick...

Re: pcmforless vs. madz28
I have pcmforless tuning in my car but have had madz28 do some pcm repair for me at one point as well, both are a pleasure to deal with. Madz28 is closer to home so when the time comes for a dyno tune he might just be the man. As others have said unless it is ame car same dyno same day, you can't compare performance gains, which leaves us comparing the facts we know both have good reps and lots of customers here, both are reasonably priced, both have good service, so maybe this will help. Madz28 is near Chicago and Bryan the 94+ man of pcmforless is near Philly, if one is actually close enough to drive to then that could be the tie breaker.
I know a couple guys who have had Ed Wright the original LT1 tuner and Bryan Herter tune their cars same day and even with heads/cam/juice or NA strokers putting enough power for 12 second b-bodies the differences were like 2-3hp well withing the error range for a dyno particularly when talking 400+RWHP. Moral is there are a number of people who can do a good job of this, so quality or work is not going to be the deciding factor.

Re: pcmforless vs. madz28
I just got my PCM back from Ion @ Madz28 the day he got it, he socketed it, fixed the flash (my mistake), tuned it, copied the tune to a backup chip I have locked away, and sent it back. All the same day. Very good customer service.
Re: pcmforless vs. madz28
I dont know much about pcmforless, but I deal with Madwolf on a pretty consistant basis. I bought his unlimited email tune package for $35 + a LT1 KM since he needed one. This is a great route to go and since I bought a ALDL for $20, I flash my PCM whenever I need it. Just email Ion and boom you have your tune and you put it in when your ready. No waiting on the UPS guy. You car is only down for 3 minutes instead of 3 days. You get 3.73's, email Ion and then you flash the PCM. You get a ASP Pulley and need the RPM's set higher, boom, its done. Since most people dont do all their mods at one time this allows you to update you tune as you mod.
I think its awesome to have a person tune your car who is proactive on the site you use so much for your car. Ion is neck deep in LT1's, Tuning, and this board. He writes contructive threads with thought out topics. He'll try his best to help you out in most situations. He also has a cool icon, which is the main reason I picked him
