PCMForless or Dyno Tune?

Should i get a dyno tune or go with PCMForless? Is the dyno tune worth it, the shop that I talked to quoted me $600 for the tune this sound like alot to me but PCMForless is only $175 . Is a dyno tune worth $425 more. They said they would hook up a wide bann and get the fuel curve and everything perfect. Just want some honest opinions from you guys thanks... Matt

The dyno tune will be much more productive. Mail order is a best guess and some what hit or miss.

How much experience with LT1s and what software package do they use to tune LT1s does the local shop have?

A dyno tune would be best! But a mail order tune is better than the stock tune but they are hit or miss like Dave said. FWIW

They strictly work on GM cars F-bodies and Corvettes mostly. The name of the shop is RP Motorsports. I believe they have some good experience but never one of ther LT-1 cars at the track.

As long as they have a SW package to interface and modify the parameters in the PCM they should be fine.

Some places just call it a tune where they run a dyno, send out the PCM and run a dyno again, adjust FP etc. I would only go there if they do the modifications on the spot to the PCM.

Who does the pcm for less? I currently have a hypertech will the pcm for less be better? I plan on adding headers and the rest of my mods are in my sig. Do you just send in your pcm and they send you yours back or do they send back one from someone else? Thanks for the advice.

you call pcmforless and tell them what you want they send it to you, then you send them your pcm.

Or you can do what I do. I ahd Bryan (@PCMforless) download the new program to me via email. The first time you purchase, he sends you the flash program as well. When I purchased my new program, I also paid an additional $25 for unlimited reprograms. This way, If I want to change soemthing, no need to remove PCM and mail off. I just email Bryan what I need changed and he sends me the new program (usually within a few hours). I also asked him about getting my car dynoed with wideband O2 and getting an air-fuel readout, etc. This is the same information that a shop will use and with this, he can get just as close as a dyno tune for less $$. In my area, 1 hour Dyno time with Wideband O2 is $150. I plan on letting Bryan know what time I will be dynoing and hopefully, he will be available to reprogram a few times within the hour. these are my plans at least, so good luck,

Kyle

Damn! $600.00 seems excessive. On the other hand I don't have any place around my neck of the woods who does it.

Straight dyno time is around $70.00 per hour and you can get several runs for that.

Wide- band dyno probably more, but even so, adjusting the PCM shouldn't require many runs since they should have a ball park program as a starting point.

I would think that $450.00 would be more reasonable, but whatever the market will bear.

What with all the ricers around, I would guess that the prices will come down. JMHO
