PCM question
PCM question
OK say i powerbrake my A4 94 Z and do a nice burnout...how come my car wont keep the power up, it tends to die down while smokin them up, and if i let off and get back it, it still is missing power. The car has ALWAYS done this, is it something to do with the computer? After a little while the car will regain the power. I havent tried it after the tune up, maybe itll fix it? Whats the deal?
It feels like something is pulling the engine power away from the vehicle....nothing happens though, is this normal?
Thanks!

Re: PCM question
Do you still have ABS? If so, did you notice if the "LOW TRAC" light comes on when you're doing your little stunt? If it is, the ECM is pulling timing to correct the front wheels from slipping, since the ecm sees the back wheels turning but not the fronts. It may think you are slipping.
If it's not the above, sorry.

Re: PCM question
another possibility is your rear brakes are overheating, and making them stick a bit (rotor expands into pads) and once it starts to cool down a bit, they unbind. Doing a powerbrake has never been very nice to cars... if you can't spin em with power alone, why spin em? Also, does your coolant temp rise dramatically when you do this???

Re: PCM question
Sorry i should have added that the low trac light does not come on...only time ive ever seen that come on is when my front wheels slid in the snow. I cant spin em on a launch.....i used to be able to with the old bald tires...but not with the new ones
my temp doesnt rise on the camaro that much while spinning the tires, but the chevelle temp FLIES up, but thats a whole nother story of coolant problems... Can i have this disabled in the computer somehow when i get my tune? or is this just another one of those "just MY car problems" that i seem to have ALOT! Thanks guys Any other ideas?

Re: PCM question
Yeah well i just went for a ride and tried the burnout again...and it still pulls my power! The car feels sluggish lately even after the FULL tune up. im begining to wonder if it may be sensor related (o2's are changed) or something else electrical. The SOTP meter is way off from say the first day i bought the car but i guess some day ill figure it out. Any more feedback?
**Would me having my Low coolant sensor Unplugged effect anything? The light was on and i just disconnected it so the light went out...**
