PCM Prob or Jesus playing tricks on me?
Alright here's what's goin on.....
Fully reinstalled my 383 from Golen Engine Service, brand new fully rebuilt T-56, new centerforce clutch, etc. The car will start and stay running at best 10 seconds, then the power to the fuel injectors is cut and the car dies. Sometimes it will restart right off the bat but will only run for half the time of it's original (5 seconds or less) other times it will just rotate and rotate and not ever start. If you wait a min or 2 it will fire right back up and then die like before. If you wait around 10 min or longer it will fire up and run the initial 10 seconds then die.
Here's what we have checked. The optispark is still firing, the computer is cutting off the fuel injectors. The ignition coil works, the crank sensor is fine, the grounds for the pcm are connected and are good. The spark plugs are fine and are ran correctly. The oil level sensor has been replaced, the coolant temp sensor has been replace, and the oil knock sensor (I think that is the correct name) has been replaced (ie. they are all new). Everything has been tested with mechanical instruments from my mechanic that is helping me with everything.
The only thing that has changed since the engine was repaired is the computer tune, that was done by Brian Herter of PCM4Less. All I had him do was delete 2 of the O2 sensors for they were throwing codes (if you need the actual code # let me know and I will provide it) and the Evap Purge Solenoid code. Will deleting any of these cause this problem? Brian suggested checking the security system (which is stock) for being faulty. I have yet to do so, hopefully we will have a scan tool to investigate that tonight. Failing that we are 99% certain we have a PCM problem.
Let me know what you folks think. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have had everything connected for over a week she just won't stay running.

Sounds like a possible VATS problem. No deity involved.
Re: PCM Prob or Jesus playing tricks on me?
dude ive got the same problem, i contacted ion he said he mailed me a pcm out monday, it would take a while to start and it would run fine then shuts off in 5 seconds or so. when i find out ill be sure to inform you all.
Re: PCM Prob or Jesus playing tricks on me?
You could try firing it up with a stock computer simply to test it. The tune won't be right but it should start and run with a stock PCM. If it doesn't, I agree with the VATS system.
Re: PCM Prob or Jesus playing tricks on me?
when i got my pcm tuned what could had happend to "set off" i guess you can the vats system, i have it sounds like the same setup within reason of the other guy up there, deleted the o2's all that good stuff, just wondering what can set it off?
Re: PCM Prob or Jesus playing tricks on me?
Pardon my ignorance, but I have never seen the word or problem of VATS? What is that? Vehicle Anti-Theft System? Anyway to just disable it myself?
Oh yeah and Golen's "perfect" computer tuning comes from PCM4Less......You ship Chad your PCM and he just sends it directly to Brian or Alvin.
We checked the ignition module and it was working, the guy that tested said it was being a bit "squirelly" but nothin to warrant it being a faulty or bad unit.
And for checking the PCM by replacing it with a stock one, anyone live in or around Greensboro, NC with a 97 LT-1 OBDII computer?

It can be disabled and programmed-out. I'd suggest you contact Bryan and explain the problem you're having. He should be able to sort it out, or point you in the right direction.
