PCM Location affect Knock?

I noticed that the PCM has a perforated Knock Module cover...if I were to relocate the PCM in the passenger compartment, would that affect it's knocking "Hearing" ability? I thought that's why it used a knock sensor on the block...I am also replacing the LT1 KM w/ a LT4...

if you moved the knock sensor to a different location in the block, then it might read differently. the LT4 knock module is less sensitive to detonation and other 'noises' than the LT1 module. the sensors should be the same though.

I'm not talking about moving the Knock "sensor"...I'm talking about moving the location of the PCM to INSIDE the car...

its the sensor that pics up the knock, not the pcm itself. the pcm just interprates the information and pulls out timing.

The knock module is simply an electronic filter circuit on a chip. It does not "hear" anything... it simply decides what signals from the knock sensor will be allowed to reach the PCM's knock retard logic. Relocating the PCM will not change anything.

Sounds good...then the perforations are just for a breather... That'll work
