Pass Cyl Head not coming "right off"

I can rotate the cylinder head about 15 degreess up and to the left (facing car) but then something is stopping it.

I have the PS pump off, and two of the bracket bolts off that screw into the head. I did not take the bracket off.

It looks like the one bracket hole is flanged out and fits into the side of the head, this might be what is stopping it. (?)

Anyone done this and can think of what might be stopping it. I am not going to force it. Should it lift straight up? I know there are studs, but I don't think that is it.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds to me like its just stuck onto the bracket..I would take a flat-head screwdriver and a rubber mallet and lightly tap in between the head and bracket and it should seperate them..Make sure you got all 17 head bolts out also

Thanks,

Yeah - I double checked the bolts like three times

I was going to try the screwdriver thing, but wanted to check first. Still seems like the back end should come up first, then the front, but oh well.

This might be a stupid question but did you take off the steam line connecting the two heads at the back?

You dont have to take off the steam line. I left mine on and pulled the heads as a pair.

Thanks, but yes. I took off the driver's side first, which came right off. This head is loose, just won't come off. I'll try again after work.
