Parts needed for cam swap
Parts needed for cam swap
Well i'm gonna be doing a cam swap in the ta in a month or so and i need to make a list of all the stuff i'm gonna need. So far I have:
-Cam
-Springs, retainers, and locks
-1.6 rr's
-Pushrods
-Gaskets
-Timing Chain set
I've got most of the specific parts picked out except for the timing chain. Not sure whether to go with a LT4 HD or a double roller w/ electric waterpump. Which one would be better to go with?
So is there anything else i'm gonna need for the cam swap?
Thanks alot in advance guys!

Re: Parts needed for cam swap
I just went with a stock replacment timming chain. Beware of broken parts and other things and budget for them because they can add up quick. I was gona do a cam swap and got it out of there and saw that the front cam bearing was terrible, so i took out the engine to have new bearings put in, then i said hey why not port the heads, why not re ring and bearing it...anyways a $800 project turned into 2k plus.
Re: Parts needed for cam swap
Well i was definitely plannin on gettin a dyno tune after all the work was done. I know there's a possibility that I could run into some problems like you said about the cam bearing; that's why i'm trying to figure up what all i'm gonna need so I can save up for the parts and some extra in case extra work needs to be done. Thanks for the reply.
Anyone else have any inuput?

well while ur at it..i would replace the spark plugs and wires along with a tune, and a new coil or even get a msd ignition box, possibly new opti or DYNASPARK or go with a delteq~
