Part number for the good oil pump spring?
Part number for the good oil pump spring?
I think it is the white spring that everyone uses around here. I am running a brand new Melling replacement pump and someone mentioned that since I had them tack weld the pickup on the pump I should replace the spring just incase the heat messed it up.
So does anyone have the part number for a good spring to use from the general?
BTW- you just slide out the pin and put the new spring in, right? Do you have to use anything on the pin to keep it in place?

GM white oil pump spring Part Number: #3848911

And yes, just tap that pin out and the spring should come right out. Be careful, it could go flying so you might want to place the oil pump next to a block or something to keep the spring from getting lost.
