pantyhose for filters?

i read somewhere that u can run just pantyhose or like stalkings over your CAI instead of a filter..seems like u would get a lot more airflow but with the risk of a dirty engine..has anyone done this? is it safe? i have a SLP CAI by the way and was thinking of doing it

I have a friend who pulls his filter off at the track. Why bother with panty hose, if you still have the screen on the MAF, nothing that horrible will get in there for that short period of time.

TRACK ONLY!!!!! It WILL let debris in...trust me. On my friends mustang he did that and he bought a new motor as the outcome.

ya my maf is descreened so i could break the sensor real easy...but if u think about it...nothing is going to get through those pantyhoses except for some dust and tiny particles that a k&N would shield off....that little amount of dust and TINY particles i feel like would just come out in the next oil change. Right?

simple--u prolly know more than i do... do u think the amount of dust and tiny particles that got through would be that detrimental? wouldnt it just come out in the oil?

Some of it may migrate to the oil, but that does not mean there won't be any damage. Why anyone would want abrasives to enter the engine is beyond me.

Leave the Dennis Rodman mods alone.... Pantyhose aren't enginered and designed to keep dirt and debris out...Air Filters are. your risking Big S@#t there buddy....
