Painting Intake?
Painting Intake?
I'm planning on replacing my lifters next week and I'm thinking about painting my intake while it's off. What type of paint should I use? I know I need high temp. What all do I need to do/remove to the intake?
Re: Painting Intake?
Not too sure what all you have to take off... anything that looks important would be my guess...haha but seriously, duplicolor makes a high heat paint that Ive used on some of my engine components, and it works very well, but if you plan on keeping it looking nice and clean, make sure you do more than one or twn coats, then see if you can find a high heat clear-coat to top off your work...
Re: Painting Intake?
for me.. throttle body, throttle linkage, traction control, belt, alternator, unplug a few sensors, rubber intake elbow, couple of vacuum lines from egr and opti
Fuel lines need to be disconnected.
I'd recommend getting some Mothers billet polish as well, it does wonders for the fuel rails.
High temp paint looks great for the first week or so and then gets a little dull after, but it will stick forever is if you get it clean first. Powder coating stays glossy forever. In my experience with using clear coat high temp paint(to keep the glossy look), I dont know if it's just me or what but clear always seems to run.
