paint for lifter valley

is there any paint that I can put on at home for the lifter valley to make the oil drain faster to the pan?

Re: paint for lifter valley

Painting the valley is not a good idea. Unless done exactly correct it will peel off and get in the oiling system. The stuff ya see in books is Glyptol and it is used on electric motors and has to be baked in an oven.Nothing at Lowes or auto parts will stay on for very long.
Just use your die grinder and a rotary file to chamfer all the return holes and the bottom of the grooves or valleys in the lifter valley. Then use a stiff wire brush with your die grinder to smooth it out some.
There isn't generally a problem with oil return in a SBC.
