do not go to macco!

I painted a guys car for around $1000. Now that was without primer. Primer i would charge another $200. Turned out great. If you go to a shop it will cost 1200-2500.

well if you don't mind driving there is this place in NW Indiana called Auto Design. It's about 45 mins from chicago. BEST PLACE i've ever been too. They've been in hot rod mag a couple times. There jobs have a life times warrenty too Kinda expensive though. They've done stuff on my car about 3 times now.. acctully my car is there now... fixing damages from my car getting broken into They are FAST too. Tell them Chris Adams sent you they will take car of you. (219)662-8284 is their number.. and no i don't work there! lol. And i would say black. just my .02

A change in color will cost more than $2500 in a shop. The jams, trunk, and underhood area will have to be shot, eating up some money. The trouble with the F-bodies is that the inside of the engine compartment is body colored. What do you do, disassemble the front end?
My son had his Monte Carlo painted '96 Impala Cherry a couple of years ago, and although the color change was minimal (over burgundy), the car was sanded to bare metal. Some body work was needed on previously repaired damage. The paint job cost about $3500 and it was done in Daytona Beach. I mention this because, generally, it will cost more near major metropolitan areas. Here is a link to the site for pictures of the paint job. Good luck.

You might want to try the appearance forum. The guys in there are more into paint then the guys here in tech.

3500? Wow, I don't think you'd be able to do a quality color change for less than $5000. I don't know about the rest of the country but seems like body work here in chicagoland is super expensive. I would expect to pay about $3000 to repaint my car black, which is the cheapest color.

I'll ditto that. From what i've been told $3000-3500 would be about right for the same color. This is of course assuming that you'd be doing a quality job where everything removable is actually removed.

well how much would you be saving if you prepped the car yourself and had the same color painted?
