painless wiring question
painless wiring question
In the painless harness for a 94 LT1, they have two red wires that are labled started B+. In their book, it says to hook them to the starter solenoid. On the solenoid though there are 2 prongs and it doesn't say which one you should hook it to. I'm assuming they want it hooked to the larger post since the ring terminals on the red wires look way to big for the smaller stud on the solenoid. I just wanted to double check and see what you all think.... thanks
Re: painless wiring question
B+ means 'battery positive', which means you need to hook them to a direct 12-volt source. The large prong on your solenoid is also where your positive battery cable hooks, so that is the one. Basically you are just picking up battery voltage by hooking those wires directly to the positive battery cable. I'm guessing they are direct feeds back to the ECU. Anyway, picking up direct feeds at the starter solenoid is very common, especially on GM vehicles.
