I'm still looking for the German made oil, and haven't found it yet. However, while I was in Autozone, I found the European formula Mobil 1. This was either 5W30 or 5W40, I don't remember which. It did not say where it was made. Think this is pretty much the same oil?

 

The one you saw was Mobil 1 European Formula 0w40. It's a good choice too, although not quite as good as German made Castrol 0w30.

Give it a try, your engine will like it better than the much thinner Mobil 1 5w30 or 10w30.
