pacesetter y-pipe low clearance

Anyone found a way around this?? My last one hit the trailer while trying to load it and I had to buy a new one. This one I am afraid of such low clearance of even entering parking lots. I put max air in the airbag for street use and am tempted to chop off the extra threads on these but it has a history with me of coming off at the y connection. This one never wants to stay in and if I start chopping I might be buying a new y-pipe again. What do you guys do for yours?
