The female end is part of the harness and attaches behind the drivers side head if i remember right.. if that sounds correct then I believe the connector simply slides off the clip.

PB BLASTER get you self a can and spray the manifold bolts as best you can and let them soak in for a while. For me getting all the old restrictive parts off was the easy part. Just wait till you realize that you need to jack you car another foot up to get your headers in LOL .....j/k it's not too bad. Oh also If you are doind OVC wires I would also recommend using WD40 in the boots for the opti and on the connectors ends. I tried and tried to get those dang things on there with the silicone greese to no avail. Spray it up and slip it on. One less head ache Good luck and have fun. Oh yeah about the dipstick tube yes you have to remove it . Simply remove the mounting bolt and wiggle and pull up and over. be careful when pulling on the rubber part at the top I schreded mine.

Well I put long tubes on my car and they were the hard part. Getting the old stuff off was a peice of cake.

from what ive heard you wanna unbolt the dipstick then loosen the passenger manifold to make it easier to get out, apparently some bending of the dipstick tube is required

You want to take the dipstick tube out AFTER you get the manifold out. I didn't need to bend it at all. Helps to have two sets of hands though someone up top pulling and someone down low pushing and twisting.

For mids getting the old stuff out is the PITA for LTs getting the new stuff in is the PITA....

My suggestion is PB Blaster every damn bolt hours before you touch it and once again before you go to remove it.

Those headers the driver side will go in from the top (Cake), passenger will go infrom the bottom, not as easy, but if tweaked just right will fit.

WATCH the fittings on the headers I had a set of Pace Setter Mids on my 93 Z28, and they were TOTTALLY the wrong size... Needless to say they stripped out the stock connectors and I ending up doing !AIR/!EGR because of those headers.

the pacesetter mids were redesigned a year ago to fix any problems and have friends who love them.

The y were also only 261 bux shipped with y pipe.

also yes they look fairly easy to install but not that easy comom its still an lt1. well i am making a road trip and will continue the header journey tonight.

Thanks guys,

BTW how should I go about installing the new gaskets?

should I glue them to the headers and put in? or try to thread a bolt thru on each end to keep them in place?
