Pacesetter Header Passenger side problem for install

Anyone with Pacesetter headers? I have the car Lifted off the ground really high. I installed the driver's side from the bottom with no trouble. But for the Passenger side- the car is high enough, I can get the header to go into the area, but it doesn't seem to fit all the way through, the outlet little piece on the end is getting caught on part of the frame area. I could try lifting the motor up a couple of inches but will it work? Anybody with pacesetters had this problem on install? I read some didn't even need to lift the motor.

The problem is most likely that the header is hitting the heat shielding on the passenger side. Same thing happened to me when I was installing mine. Took out the few screws that held the heat shield on and removed the shield. Ended up using some of it protect the wires that sit on the passenger side header. (Starter, ground, O2 sensor, etc.)

Yea - jack the motor - save the coating and time...I wish I had told myself that couple months ago...... You're gonna love 'em man, be sure to fire it up open headers once...

I just finished installing mine about 10 minutes ago.. gotta take the pass motor mount bolt out and jack the motor a bit.. then drop from the top, slides right in and you won't get that problem with hitting the air tube by the alt. bracket, or getting the header tweeked over on top of the valve cover... and I tried taking the heat shield off, no dice, didn't work, just wasted time..

I didnt unbolt the motor, but i banged the lip on the fire wall in a little bit by the heater/ac stuff. My EGR valve was getting hung up on it. Did a little pounding by hand, then just forced it in there.

Re: Pacesetter Header Passenger side problem for install

Thanks! I'll try lifting the motor up and putting it in from the top. I tried taking the bolts off of the valve cover but the cover seems a little stuck on and can't seem to pry it off. If I go that route instead of liftingthe motor, do I have to replace the seal of the valve cover or use the same one?

I also have a '97 and I had no problems sliding the pass. side header in from the top. I also kept the wrapping on my headers while I installed them to keep from scratching them up. Just take your time...it will go!

Yea, I tried sheets and pillow cases with tape....but after hours of frustration, and holes start to tear...you tend not to care about a couple scratches. Oh yea, I also hate stories where people's headers just "dropped right in" or "slid in" from top....
