Yeah, they need to be tighten a few times right after your install. I retighten mine after every time I drove for a few days, and then checked periodically after that. After a week you should be okay but make sure to check again for a while after just to make sure.

Re: pacesetter header bolts

The bolts back out and losen up a bit with initial heat cycles. Just check them every day for a while or so until you find that they stay tight and then they should stay tight after that. Too bad they weren't checked initially because I know mine backed out A LOT the first few times I drove it.

I've had my Pacesetter long tubes on for almost a year and I check the bolts periodically. The Pacesetter bolts have not backed out since the day of the install though.

Did you use locktight or anything?

Mine are pretty much the same way ... I checked them a couple times. I only actually was able to retighten them once. About a 1/4 turn though. I never put loc-tite or anything on them. Just liberally coated with anti-seeze that way when they come back off in the future (When I build it this winter), Im not ****ing with broken off or rounded header bolts stuck in the head.

Overall, I thought the hardware and gaskets they provided were pretty decent. No complaints from me about it. As long as you keep the bolts tight, you'll be fine.

Steer clear of Loctite in your heads! That will be a major PIA if you try to remove them again. I would suggest just dealing with the fact that you may have to check them from time to time. There's nothing more scary than having to think about stripping a header bolt off in your heads. Just my $.02

Cool,

I finally got the heades in and now I'm searching through old posts for tips and stuff, and hope to do it this weekend...

From what I have read it's worth putting it up on stands tonight and start hitting it with penitrating oil now so it is ready to go on Fri night/Sat morning when ever I start...

Re: pacesetter header bolts

Do NOT use any kind of Locktite.
Get a set of Bresline locking bolts.

1RacerDude, What are those things like in the long haul? The link wasnt working? But arent those the ones with an allen screw in the middle?

I thought about those but figured it would be a couple years before my headers came off. I was afraid that woulg get gaulded up or corroded and never break loose without a nightmare so I just used the regular old pace setter ones ...
