P0133 after long tube install
P0133 after long tube install
hey guys, just got done with pacesetter coated header and off road y pipe and cutoutand i bought two 24 in extensions and 2 o2 sims and ive been driving with everything on for like 240 miles now and just last night my SES light came on so I scanned it this morning and its a P0133 o2 sensor circuit blah blah blah...I researced the code and did not find any direct method on how to turn this sucker off. Will I need to buy a new o2 precat sensor or can I clean it or what? Any help will be great appreciated. My car still runs really well so maybe if I just reset my computer and unhook the battery it should be alrite? O and what is the average drive cycle before the SES comes back on if it were to?
Thanks a lot

Re: P0133 after long tube install
You can pull the PCM fuse for a minute or two.
It's pretty normal, especially with coated headers. All the crap in/out of the headers gets burnt off and I'm pretty sure this is what screws up the O2 sensors.

Re: P0133 after long tube install
Its pretty easy to trash the front 02 sensors during a header install. I got the same code as a result of my installation. The solution: I purchased and installed a brand new pair of front 02 sensors and had my friend clear the SES light with his scanner and called it a day.
Re: P0133 after long tube install
P0133 is for "slow response"...... most likely the sensor is contaminated. Could be from any solvents you used to remove it, use of excess anti-sieze to install it, possibly the burnoff from cera-metallic coatings, etc.
The PCM only runs the response time test once per "trip". It waits until the PCM is in closed loop, the RPM is between 1,000-1,700, and MAF flow is between 15-32 GPS. Then it checks over a 100-second period, the average time required to switch between rich and lean, and sets the code if it takes more than 100mSec average.

Re: P0133 after long tube install
ok so ill stop buy autozone and grab two new pre cat o2 sensors clear my code install the suckers and i should be good to go for emission...i also saw that where my y pipe connects to my headers and where the two parts of the y were welded together and where the y welds to my cutout and then where the cutout attaches to the pipe that goes over my axle, water leaks out which means there are leaks in the welds so ill be taking my car back to the exhaust shop and tell them to do it again because i cant have a leaky system....my question is that if it leaks could that be why the sensor went bad...or possibly because the last two header bolts on the 5 and 7 cylinders were not tight at all air got in and confused the o2 sensor??? thanks for all the help so far!

everybody here is right
run teh car for a week or so to get rid off all the contaminants that burn off teh header wall and then swap in a pair or new 02s and ull be fine
i hear bosh is crap, alot of ppl have many problems with them , but i never had any real experience with them so i do not not know. My friends dad works at a dealers so with his discount i got a pair or stock replacements, AC Delco i believe?? but they work just gret
